About this Benefit

The Shot Tower is situated beside Channel Highway in Taroona and is about 11 km drive from Hobart. It is one of Tasmanias most historical industrial buildings. It is 58 metres tall, and it can be climbed. There are 318 steps  with great views of the Derwent from the top. It was completed in 1870 and was Australias tallest building for four years. It was Tasmanias tallest structure for over 100 years until superceded by the 61 metre ABC tower in Hobart.
